Vanessa began studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in 1996 at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. She has received certificates in postgraduate studies from the Guangzhou and Nan Chang universities in China, and has studied with some of the most renowned classical doctors of the 20th century. Chinese Medicine programs.
HER PATH TO CHINESE MEDICINE
Vanessa's passion for helping others began over 10 years ago while working as a recreational director for adults suffering from traumatic head injury. She clearly saw the connection between physical conditions and mood. This work sparked an interest to help people maximize health and emotional wellbeing. Focused on this goal, she went on to complete her undergraduate studies in biology and psychology, creating a new integrated model for understanding the interaction of body and mind, and their roles in creating disease.
Vanessa was introduced to TCM in 1995 for her own healthcare needs. Amazed at the healing power of Chinese medicine, and its efficacy to treat the whole person, she began to investigate the philosophies and principles of TCM. Finding in TCM the tools that she needed to treat both physical and emotional imbalances, Vanessa went on to pursue her career in acupuncture and herbal medicine in 1996.
